Smithfield Foods is working to breathe new life into plans to move processing out of the Falls Park area to Foundation Park near Crooks.
Company officials say they’ll file for a new conditional use permit following a judge’s ruling to overturn the first one. City Councilors say they’re still excited about the potential move, but are waiting to see the company’s next move.
City Council member James Oppenheimer says he was surprised by the ruling…but excited to work to advance the project.
The $1.3-billion dollar plant would be the largest business investment in state history.
