In a continued effort to save lives and strengthen community support for individuals impacted by substance use disorder, Emily’s Hope announced July 17th, 2026 the expansion of the Post- Overdose Response Team into Beadle County. This expansion will ensure that every person who survives an overdose in the Huron area has rapid, compassionate and evidence based support from the moment they return home. Diana Leal, Program manager for PORT at Emily’s Hope said its great to add another location.
Emily’s Hope POST-Overdose Response team was founded by journalist Angela Kennecke. Her daughter Emily died in 2018 from a fentanyl overdose just 24 hours from an intervention. Beadle County is the 9th county for the program.
