WATERTOWN, S.D. (KWAT)–Earlier this month, police made an arrest in a swatting call that was made to Watertown High School.
Following a lengthy and thorough investigation, police arrested a 16 year-old juvenile for making the prank call to the school last August, in which the caller claimed there was a weapon that was going to be used inside the school.
Police rushed to the scene, a lockdown was put into place, and a thorough search of the building was conducted.
Investigators eventually concluded the caller intentionally made a false report.
Watertown Police Captain Steve Rehorst revealed a new piece of information recently. He says they’ll be seeking restitutation for the manpower that was wasted on what turned out to be a hoax…
The juvenile is charged with Terroristic Threats, Making a False Report to Law Enforcement, and Disturbance of a School.
