Former Huron City Commissioner Drew Weinreis has announced his candidacy for Huron City Commissioner, seeking to return to the position he previously held from 2021 through 2025.
Weinreis brings a record of public service and community leadership. During his previous term on the Huron City Commission, Weinreis provided steady leadership while helping guide important city decisions and supporting the employees who keep our city running every day.
Professionally, Weinreis serves as Senior Vice President of Member Services at Dakotaland Federal Credit Union, where he has built a career focused on leadership, financial responsibility, and helping individuals, families and Businesses succeed.
In addition to his professional role, Weinreis remains deeply involved in the Huron community. He currently serves as President of the Board of Directors for the Center for Independence, is a Chamber Ambassador, and sits on the boards of the Huron Community Campus and the Beadle County Humane Society.
“Serving as a city commissioner was one of the greatest honors of my life,” said Weinreis. “During my time on the commission, I built strong working relationships with city staff, community leaders, and residents across Huron. Those relationships are critical to getting things done.”
Weinreis said those experiences have prepared him to once again serve the City of Huron and its residents.
“I’m ready to roll up my sleeves and get back to work,” Weinreis said. “Huron is a great community, and I want to continue working to make it one of the best places to live, work, and raise a family.”
Weinreis said his campaign will focus on strong city leadership, responsible financial management, and continued community growth. The Election will be held Tuesday June 2nd at the Huron Arena.
