Project Prison Reset the board created by Governor Larry Rhoden to address the issue of replacing the mens prison in Sioux Falls vote in unison Tuesday that the current facility needs to be replaced. Following the state legislatures failure to appoint the money for the proposed site in Lincoln County Governor Rhoden assigned the board to come to an agreement on a new site. The Lincoln County site is still one of 14 potential sites. There are 9 locations in the Sioux Falls area. Proposals for a prison in other locations in the state have come forward including one at the Vantage Business park along US highway 14 and Custer Avenue. Other locations include two in the Aberdeen area, one outside of Mitchell and one near Big Stone city in northeast South Dakota. The information on the 14 proposed sites is now available to review. Members of the Project Prison Reset at the last meeting said now is the time for people in those areas to give their response to those sites.
