The South Dakota Legislature approved more than eight million dollars Monday to repair the Richmond Lake dam near Aberdeen. Gov. Larry Rhoden signed the bill the same day.
The House voted 61 to 3 to adopt the conference committee report on Senate Bill 121. The Senate later concurred.
The bill transfers and appropriates $8,212,497 for replacement of the Richmond Lake dam and spillway near Aberdeen. The money comes from the trust fund for unclaimed property.
Republican Rep. Al Novstrup of Aberdeen supported the bill.
It carries an emergency clause, so it took effect upon passage and approval with Governor Larry Rhoden’s signature.
