Jeff McGirr, a longtime Huron resident and business owner, announced that he is seeking election to District 3 of the Beadle County Commission in the Republican primary on June 2. District 3 includes a large portion of southwest Huron.
McGirr was born and raised in Beadle County and has lived in Huron for several decades. He and his wife Shelly are the founders and owners of Signature Plus, a local business they started 29 years ago and continue to operate today.
“Beadle County has given me the opportunity to build a business, raise a family, and stay actively involved in the community,” McGirr said. “I’m running for County Commission because I want to give back and help ensure responsible, effective leadership for our county.”
McGirr said his background in business and board leadership has prepared him to focus on practical decision-making, fiscal responsibility, and collaboration.
In addition to his business experience, McGirr has an extensive record of civic involvement and public service. McGirr currently serves as Chairman of the Mid Dakota Rural Water Board and holds multiple leadership roles with the South Dakota Rural Water Association, including Treasurer, Executive Board member, and Advisory Board member.
His past service includes roles on the Huron Elks Board, President of the James Valley Shrine, and President of the Huron Chamber & Visitors Bureau.
“County government works best when leaders listen, ask the right questions, and manage resources wisely,” McGirr said. “I believe my experience in business and on boards that serve large parts of our state gives me the perspective needed to serve Beadle County well.”
He is also active in several service organizations, including the Huron Masonic Lodge, High 12, and the James Valley Shrine Club.
