A partial US government shutdown is in place this time around a dispute of funding for Department of Homeland Security between political sides is at issue. In a swing through Huron on Monday representation Dusty Johnson compared this shutdown with the larger one last fall.
Johnson spoke with local education leaders at a roundtable discussion Monday in Huron.
Johnson a candidate for South Dakota governor on the republican side along with incumbent Larry Rhoden, Toby Doeden and SD legislator Jon Hansen. State budget issues have been discussed recently including the 1.25 percent increase a year ago for state workers, teachers and local health workers and lean 1 percent discussion this year. Johnson said that was a suprise.
