A bill to ban lab-grown meat by labeling it an “adulterated food” advances through the state Senate Agriculture and Natural Resources committee this morning (Tuesday, Feb. 3).
District 18 state Rep. Julie Auch, R-Yankton is the sponsor of House Bill 1077.
District 16 state Sen. Kevin Jensen, R-Canton supported the measure.
District 22 state Sen. Brandon Wipf, R-Lake Byron opposed the bill.
The committee voted 4-3 to advance the measure to the full senate with a ‘do pass’ recommendation. The state House already passed the bill (on Jan. 27) on a 45-22 vote.
