September is National Suicide Prevention Month and Community Counseling Services is also using this week is using this week as Suicide Prevention Awareness with their Dress Up Days all week. Belinda Grey with CCS said the events during this week works into their message of awareness.
Wednesday 9/10 is Coffee Shop day> They are being assisted by Don’t Spill the Beans 3 locations along with Scooters and Gigi’s in Huron. In Madison Sundog Coffee and Scooters, Wolsey Buzz N Coffee Company, Miller Brew 605 in the Take Out parking lot, Wessington Springs Sweet Grass Coffee, De Smet Mercantile and Coffee Shop and JJ’s Coffee Spot in Flandreau.
Belinda said those with thoughts of suicide can reach out to friends and family other options include community health centers including CCS in their seven county region. Churchs and other organizations are also great option along with the 988 Crisis Line.
