Among the many agencies nationwide that have concerned about funding freezes at the federal level is Cornerstones Career Learning Center. A call to action was announced last week but on Friday those federal funds were released to continue programs through the rest of the fiscal year. Kim Olson is Executive Director for Cornerstones and talks about where they stand now.
Kim said they will work to improve support going forward at the local and state level.
Cornerstones Career Learning Center is a longtime leader in adult education and workforce training. They have locations in Aberdeen, Huron, Mitchell, Yankton and Vermillion. Kim said the programs are a life line for thousands of South Dakotans. Seventy five percent of their funding relies on federal support. She said they will continue to work on support at the local level.
