South Dakota Public Broadcasting could see a significant number of layoffs due to the federal cut in funding to the Corporation for Public Broadcasting.
Congress voted to pull back nine billion dollars in authorized spending and that included money for public TV and radio. South Dakota Public Broadcasting Executive Director Julie Overgaard says they must plan some major cutbacks
Overgaard says it would be difficult to find another source of funding.
Overgaard says it would be a major loss for the entire state.
The Educational Telecommunications board met Friday to discuss options for the public broadcasting system.
South Dakota Public Broadcasting now has about sixty employees.
