With South Dakota public schools set to get a one point two five percent increase in state funding for next year, one legislator wants to look at other possibilities.
District 18 Senator Lauren Nelson of Yankton says she wants a deeper dive into funding for the Board of Regents.
Nelson says state universities already have a funding advantage.
Nelson says she will be working on alternatives before the 2026 session.
Nelson defeated long time Senator Jean Hunhoff in last June’s primary and is serving her first term in the legislature.
